LEAGUE MATCH REPORTS

Season 2011/12

Week 15  - 15/02/2012

PREMIER DIVISION

Hang em High have the championship trophy in their sights following a convincing win over Lindfield Thunderbolts who had Emma Torkington playing for them. For Thunderbolts Emma won all three singles then with Andrew Sharland defeated Michael Bridger and Martyn Sims in the doubles. But in the rest of the singles Martyn Sims, Steve Chambers and Michael Bridger proved too strong for Andrew Sharland and David Metcalfe who both failed to get on the score sheet. Both Martyn Sims and Michael Bridger took a set of Emma. With Emma playing in the Championships this year there will be a few close matches. Final score 6-4 to Hang Em High.

Cuckfield had a 10-0 win over Park Wanderers with trebles for Paul Read, Pat Hosford and Jim Griffin over Ray Parker, Muriel Brewer and Arthur Mortenson.

Bullets Fred Bodeau, Tomas Pomej and Eric Smith defeated Dynamos Peter, Matthew and Oliver Caddy surprisingly with a 10-0 win. This keeps Bullets within striking distance of second placed Bats but with a game in hand.

Bats came away with a 6-4 win over Warriors with both Terry Dean and Les Hopkins scoring trebles. Les was more than happy with his treble as it included the scalp of David Champneys who up to now has only lost one match this season. For Warriors one each for Lyle Cyster, David Champneys and Toby Champneys. Warriors also won the doubles.

FIRST DIVISION

Owing to half term Burgess Tigers were asked to postpone their match with Old and New but still stay top.

Second placed Magiks with Mel Sims, Alistair Blur and Alex Jeffery were stunned to be held to a draw by Mad Batters who were without their number one Kate Cheer. For Mad Batters with Alex Bryant, Annabel Bridger and Brian Taite it was 5-4 to Magiks going into the doubles but with Annabel’s all attacking play Mad Batters won 14- 12 in the forth set. In the singles it was two apiece for Annabel and Brian. For Magiks Mel Sims with a treble and Alistair and Alex Jeffery with one apiece.

Another draw saw Ashenground and Misfits finishing with a five all match. Misfits who were a player short did well with Michael Amor and James Rennie managed two each then combined to win the doubles to earn their draw. For Ashenground two for Andrew Croft plus three singles walkover wins for Mary O’Dwyer, Shirley Williams and Andrew Croft.

The X Men were back in form after their shock defeat by Mad Batters last week. This week saw them defeat Gangsters 7-3. A treble for Phil Sayers, two for John Bridger and one for Tim Grant with John and Phil taking the doubles. For Gangsters two for Andy Steel and one for Nooch Staplehurst.
